10 years anniversary 2015-2025

Thyes Kavanagh 2025 Grand Marshal

Thyes Kavanagh was born and grew up in Clondalkin village, where his family has lived since the late 1940s. He has dedicated over 45 years to community volunteer work, beginning with Youth Clubs and subsequently contributing as a committee member for the establishment of Clondalkin Community Centre.

Thyes played a significant role as one of the coordinators in the development of the Round Tower Visitor’s Centre – Brú Chronáin, and he is proud to serve as the caretaker of the Clondalkin Round Tower- (Monument) .

Alongside his wife Kathy, Thyes initiated the Clondalkin Village Festival in collaboration with the Clondalkin Chamber of Commerce and South Dublin County Council. He has actively participated in numerous community events across Clondalkin, Tallaght, and Lucan and is a staunch advocate of Community Volunteers. His contributions during the Covid pandemic at Citywest earned him the Freedom of the County from South Dublin County Council.

His latest endeavour is the Orchard Lodge (Age Friendly) Meeting Centre in Clondalkin village, a project that has been underway for over 20 years and is now operational.

Thyes said as 2025 Grand Marshall,” I am deeply honoured to represent the many dedicated Community Volunteers in our area”.
